There are two opportunities to begin the Master of Science in Exercise Science each year, in the fall and spring. Applicants must submit the online application and all required admission materials no later than the stated deadline to be considered for admission.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and prospective students can expect to receive an admissions decision approximately three weeks after submitting a completed application. The admissions requirements and application materials for the program are listed below.

Requirements for admission to the online MS in Exercise Science include:
A bachelor’s degree in science or a health-related discipline.
A minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0.
Applicants with a GPA lower than 3.0 may be offered provisional admission. The provision will be removed if they demonstrate academic success in prerequisite courses during the first semester of the program.
Two undergraduate courses in Anatomy and Physiology and one undergraduate course in Exercise Physiology from an accredited institution.
Applicants may be accepted conditionally while completing these prerequisites. Northeastern University offers these courses through the College of Professional Studies (CPS) and the College of Health Sciences, and they can be taken online.
One year of health-related work experience is recommended but not required.
Note: Students are not required to take the GRE or GMAT for admission to the program.
Letters must be from professional or academic sources.
A maximum of 9 semester hours or 12 quarter hours of credit earned at another institution may be accepted towards the master’s in exercise science, provided the credits:
Consist of work taken at the graduate level for graduate credit.
Carry grades of 3.0 or better.
Have been earned at an accredited institution.
Have not been used toward any baccalaureate or advanced degree or certificate at another institution.
Have been earned within five academic years of the date of matriculation in the Northeastern program to which they are to be applied.
Grades earned in courses to be applied as transfer credits are not counted as part of the overall grade point average earned at Northeastern, and are posted with a grade of “T” to the transcript.
